Beach Head's son was in C.O.P.S.

 G.I. Joe's member Wayne R Sneeden (codename: Beach Head) had a son who went into law enforcement.

(Almost) all of the character file cards for G.I. Joe were written by Larry Hama. 

Mr. Larry Hama also wrote very similar file cards for the C.O.P.S. toy-line. C.O.P.S. had a character named Wayne R. Sneeden III (codename: Checkpoint). This file states his father was a member of an elite military unit in the 80's and 90's.

Both toy-lines were produced from Hasbro- so it all checks out!
