some details about Last Parsec

Space Pirate by DeFemme
Pinnacle's blog shared some details about the highly anticipated and upcoming sci-fi Savage Worlds setting, Last Parsec.
The Last Parsec is our next Kickstarter, and it will take you into the depths of known space and beyond! Exploring new planets for JumpCorp, each new mission will make wildly different demands. Powered by the Savage Worlds Science Fiction Companion, each Plot Point Campaign focuses on a different planet. Scientorium will take you to an immense artifact containing unimaginable knowledge, undreamed technologies, and untold danger. Eris Beta-V is a magnificent ringed gas giant with numerous moons, each a world of its own, and a dense field of asteroids and debris. When a threat to the system arises, will it be something your team can handle? Leviathan introduces you to the most dangerous game in the Known Worlds, with mammoth lacerauns more massive and cunning than most would ever imagine. But a world untouched by civilization is a draw to more than just hunters, and the other may be far more threatening!

The post had much more than this, but that's what interested me!

Neither of the pieces of artwork are from the Last Parsec products. They are art I found on DeviantArt that I thought had a feel to what I think Last Parsec is going to be like. Click on the links to check out the artists' other work.

Force and Destiny Beta at GenCon

FFG's Force and Destiny has got to be the least surprising thing to come out of the 2014 GenCon. Here I sit in MN so far away from Indianapolis and it seems like the RPG bloggers and news writers aren't pumping out enough coverage (because they're having too much fun playing). Not much has been said about Force and Destiny it seems. But at least we can now see it's cover art. Behold.

Sorry. I'm a fanboy.

Dragonriders of Pern - Warner Bros

There has been some movement in regards to a Pern movie development:
Warner Bros. is launching development of a movie franchise based on the sci-fi series “Dragonriders of Pern.”
The studio has optioned the 22-volume book series from the estate of American-Irish author Anne McCaffrey, who died in 2011.
It has yet to set up the project with a producer.
The books are set in a pre-industrial society with intelligent firebreathing dragons and their riders teaming to fight a rogue planet that attacks the world of Pern. The books take place over a period of over 2,500 years.
Drew Crevello and Julia Spiro are overseeing for the studio, which has launched the “Harry Potter,” “Lord of the Rings” and “Hobbit” franchises.

Steel Monsters

I remember these in the Sears catalogs, etc. and always wanted them, but never got them. The resemblance to Mad Max was awfully confusing to me. I remember trying to figure out where the Mad Max figure was.
Steel Monsters were a toy series from the Tonka company in the 1980s
Produced in 1986 and 1987 by Tonka, they were well-made and colorful 3-3/4" figures, each having its own mini-comic. Sub-labeled as "The Only Survivors", they were very reminiscent of the Mad Max genre, with Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome coming out the year before.

Metal Face

Even though Metal Face and Punk are pictured with their respected vehicles above, I think they were switched somehow. I seem to remember seeing Metal Face with the Masher and Punk with Bomber, but I left it for consistency with the pictures.

But then again, it does appear to be Metal Face in the ad above.
