TableTop RPG show will be powered by AGE
Wil Wheaton has been talking about doing a spin-off of his very successful TableTop YouTube series that focuses on roleplaying games instead of board games. Recently a lot more about this has been coming out. It now sounds like Wil's show will be like an actual play like many podcasts, but here it will be in front of his studio cameras. He's recently announced the cast and today he announced what the game will be.
The game is going to be his own original campaign setting and powered by the AGE System (adventure game engine), the system is the same system behind the Dragon Age RPG. Green Ronin is soon going to publish this system as sort of a generic RPG system for the fantasy genre. This is going to be the same thing that will be featured in the show.
TableTop did feature the Dragon Age RPG in a couple of their episodes already. It's likely that was what inspired this project. Based on the quality

TableTop host Wil Wheaton announced the title, cast, and premiere date of theTableTop spinoff RPG show: Titansgrave: The Ashes of Valkana. The game will utilize Green Ronin’s forthcoming Fantasy AGE system in a setting of Wheaton’s own design, and will premiere on Geek & Sundry’s website and YouTube channel on June 2. The RPG spinoff was promised as part of the fundraising campaign for the third series of the show (see “'TableTop' to Launch RPG Show”).
“I needed a system that was going to support the way I play roleplaying games, and that is – telling a story collaboratively with a group of players with me as the GM,” Wheaton said. He named off several major systems that he likes: D&D, Savage Worlds, Fate Core, and Green Ronin’s True20, then added, “I really wanted to use something that was released by an independent publisher. I really wanted to bring something to the forefront of the roleplaying world that not many people are familiar with as I want them to be.”
The game will be played using Fantasy AGE, the latest iteration of the Adventure Game Engine by Green Ronin Publishing, (see “'Dragon Age,' 'A Song of Ice and Fire,' 'Return to Freeport,' More”). Wheaton’s own setting game will be a mash-up of the 1978 Heavy Metal movie and the Thundarr the Barbarian Saturday morning cartoon series called Titansgrave: The Ashes of Valkana. "We're going to releaseFantasy AGE and Titansgrave concurrently in August," Green Ronin's Chris Pramas told ICv2.
“It was incredibly difficult to cast this show. We needed people who were comfortable improvising, who had experience playing roleplaying games, and who were available when we planned to shoot the show,” Wheaton said. The 10 week campaign will include Yuri Lowenthal (voice actor for several Ben 10 andNaruto series) Laura Bailey (voice actor for Soul Eater and Resident Evil: Degeneration), Alison Haislip (Attack of the Show!) and Hank Green.link
